Intrasquad Meet Notice - May 5 - signup by May3
Welcome to the 2019 Season!!!
The intrasquad meet, scheduled for this Sunday, is now open for entries! The intrasquad meet is a “practice” meet with only Barracudas. It gives the kids and parents an opportunity to experience a swim meet without the pressure of having another team.
Entries will close on Friday @ 8:00pm. This is now automated, so it will be exact. Every swimmer is expected to RSVP online for every meet before the deadline, whether they are attending or not, including this week's meet. We have a lot of swimmers, we cannot spend a lot of time to chase everyone down.
Warm-up will start at 12:00noon. Team picture at 12:30pm and the meet will start immediately after the photo. Volunteers and swimmers should plan to arrive on time!
We will be distributing merchandise this week during practice Tue/Wed. It has been added to the schedule. If the weather does not cooperate gear will be distributed at the intrasquad.
All -
Event & Job Signup is still at www.bcwbarracudas.com -> Schedule -> Swim Meets & Events The process is pretty much the same as last year. Like last year, the league is asking that every team verify that kids swimming breaststroke & butterfly have a good chance of successfully completing the event. They should successfully swim the stroke properly in practice.
This really helped last year. Easier for stroke judges, computers, and less frustrating for the kids. Strokes really should be learned and corrected in a coaching situation, not a stroke judge situation.
If you are not sure if your swimmer is ready for a stroke, ask a coach at the end of practice and/or add a "note to the coach" when signing up your swimmer.
New Families -
What does this meet signup stuff mean? Every week you have to go into our web page, declare your swimmers availability, and select (or suggest) your kids events.
We use all the registration information to build the meet into what is called a “heat sheet” that directs the flow of the swim meet.
See the link below for more instructions; if you aren't sure if you will be at a meet, then you should declare for individual events as if you are attending, but mark "not available for relays" until you know you are confident you'll be attending, barring illness or emergencies. Relays are a team commitment.
What do you need to do? Take 2-3 minutes and sign up! Need some extra help? Read the Meet Entry Help , ask a coach, reply to this message, or use the contact-us button on the web page.
Volunteer Job Shifts -
You will be contacted this week about your job shifts. If you do not remember what you signed up for, you can click on "My Account" at the top right of the home page -> https://bcwbarracudas.swimtopia.com/personal
More information will be available on adjusting jobs for the remainder of the season in the next few days. As a reminder, this is totally volunteer run organization. It wouldn't be successful without you! We ask each family to contribute a minimum of 4 shifts per season.
Intrasquad Concessions -
We will have a concession stand open with light snacks, drinks, as well as yard signs and team caps available for sale. The concession stand will be cash only, please plan ahead.
Any questions can be sent to support@bcwbarracudas or ask a board member at the pool!
Thanks! See you at the pool!
