It’s time for our first (and only) AWAY meet of the year Saturday morning against Lake Hills Splashers. We’re excited for a fun time and fast water, but there are MANY details to cover as you plan for the meet. Please read through all of the info here and plan accordingly.

Reminder: Champ meet has a 2 splash requirement. This is our LAST meet and your last chance to get that 2nd splash.

Away Meet Timeline

  • Setup Crew: 6:45am, Volunteer & Athlete Check-In: 7:00am, AGP: 7:10am, Timers/Stroke Judges/Ready Bench: 7:50am
  • 7:15am - Swimmers arrive @ pool (allow a LOT of time for parking/walking)
  • 7:30am - Warm-up starts
  • 7:30am - 7:35am: 6-8s
  • 7:35am - 7:40am: 9-10s
  • 7:40am - 7:50am: 11&up
  • 7:45am - Early Relay Swimmer check-in deadline (Any early relay swimmers not signed in by 7:45am will forfeit that relay spot and will be marked as not available for relays at our next meet. See link below for more details.)
  • 8:00am: Meet starts
  • 11:30am +/- 30 minutes - Meet Finish

We will set up on the grassy section of the lake park (near the water), outside of the fenced-in pool area. When you arrive, look for the blue Barracudas tent and have your swimmer sign in at the swimmer check-in table. After you do that, if you are volunteering, head to the volunteer check-in table nearby.

For this meet, parents can set up and sit near their kids, and everyone should be prepared for the heat. Stay hydrated, and even though it is tempting, everyone must stay out of the lake! Expected meet finish is around 11:55am, though that time is only an estimate. Lots of swimmers competing this week, so come marked up and ready to go!

NOTES ON RELAYS

Many families both new and returning have had questions about how relays work, and the link below should answer all your Barracuda relay-related questions. As mentioned above, any swimmer who has not personally SIGNED IN at Athlete Check-in by 7:45am at the latest will be dropped from early relay teams. For more details, please carefully review the About Those Relays section on the website (scroll down from the top).

What to Bring

First off, please make sure you label anything you bring.

  • Team suit!!! That’s our uniform!!! :)
  • Towels to set down to claim your space and another one to dry off.
  • Goggles and team swim cap if you use them.
  • Sunscreen
  • CASH or CARD for the concession stand. They will have Rudy’s breakfast tacos, donuts, coffee, water, sparkling water, soft drinks, Gatorade, chips, candy, and other snacks.
  • Leave your kickboards and fins at home. Those aren’t needed at meets.
  • Shoes/flip flops
  • Lots of water and whatever else you need to stay cool.

Heat Sheet

The heat sheet is posted on our website here (they can always be found on the Swim Meets & Events calendar)! Please print this out for your benefit!

FYI: As changes come in, the linked file will sometimes be outdated but the Swimtopia app has the most current data. You may need to close the app and reopen to update the connection.

Marking up Swimmers

You can help the Age Group volunteers by writing their last name on their back and then on in order "event number-heat number-lane number" on their arm or shoulder so they can see what they are swimming. Directions here.

None of that is required, but it’s part of the experience for some, and helps them take ownership of when they’re swimming. Most importantly, make sure your swimmers know what strokes they are swimming!

Where to Park

From our hosts: Parking is VERY limited in the lot at the pool. Families should plan to park on the side streets in the neighborhood where there are no posted restrictions. Please be aware that parking is not permitted on Edgewater Drive. LHS will have parking attendants in the street to help guide throughout the neighborhood for parking. LHS will also have some parent volunteers with golf carts to help shuttle up and down the hill. It may be best to drop your swimmer off at the pool and then find a parking spot in the neighborhood.

Advice from us: Carpool or rideshare if you can and allow a LOT of time to park. Many choose to be dropped off and picked up instead of parking. Drive slowly and carefully as there are a lot of swimmers walking on the often curvy streets to the pool. Make sure your swimmers have shoes or flip flops for the walk.

Where to Watch

Parents cannot bring chairs inside the fenced pool deck area.

You can set up chairs, coolers, and umbrellas outside on our amazing lawn in between the pool and basketball court (under the trees in the shade!) Please supervise your swimmers in our area of the park. Please do not allow your swimmers to play in the sand on the sand volleyball court to limit the sand later getting into the pool.

Parents and guests are welcome to stand and watch their swimmers during his/her individual races from vantage points along the north and south sides of the pool, but then are requested to exit the pool deck area after their swimmers’ races to give space for other parents. When your swimmer is racing, please take note of the rope to give space for the timing tents.

Keeping Up Online

Check out the Swimtopia mobile app in your phone’s app store. Some features are free, some do require a subscription similar to Meet Mobile. Assuming all goes well, we should have real-time meet status (current event/heat) and results in the app.

Cancellation/Scratches

If anything comes up this evening or early in the morning, please please please, email [email protected] with the details.

REMINDERS

  • Swimmers should remain with their AGPs between races so they can be ready to go for each swim. Remind them to either be with their AGP or let the AGP know they are going to concessions or the restroom.
