Welcome Letter & Information from Lakeway Lakers Swim Team:

We’re looking forward to hosting your team at the Lakeway Swim Center on Saturday, May 30! Our team will start arriving at 6:45am, and your team is welcome to come any time after then. Your team will warm up from 7:30-8:00 and the meet will start at 8:00. Depending on the number of swimmers, we should be finished by 11:30.

The Lakeway Swim Center is a terrific place for a swim meet. We have plenty of space inside the facility for age group tents and a lot of deck space for parents. However, there isn’t much shade in the area where you will set up your team, so please ask your families to bring pop-up shade tents. They will be sitting in the grass, so you might also bring blankets and tarps. The Swim Center is located at 3103 Lakeway Blvd.

Everyone will enter through the back gate of the Swim Center, by the competition pool. Your team will set up on the hill behind the pool. Families can park at the Swim Center, in the grassy areas around the Swim Center, or at Serene Hills Elementary School, which is located next to the Swim Center. Please ask your families not to park on Highlands Blvd, which is the four-lane road that runs behind the Swim Center, or at the World of Tennis, which is across the street from the Swim Center. The Lakeway Police Department will ticket vehicles parked in these areas. We will announce this during the meet, but please also tell your parents that their cooperation is greatly appreciated.

The Swim Center staff will sell breakfast items, snacks, and drinks. Cash only, please.

The recreational pool (with the slides) is CLOSED during our swim meets, and no swimmers should be in or around the recreational pool at any time. In addition, the Lakeway Swim Center opens to the public at noon on Saturday. Per our lease agreement with the City of Lakeway, our team must be finished with the meet and have everything put away by 11:45am. At the conclusion of the meet, all families are welcome to use the facility when it opens at noon, but we ask that everyone exit the facility through the back gate and then re-enter it through the main gate and pay the daily rate.

Please remind your team not to play in or use the shower towers located throughout the facility as we have had problems with kids breaking them during meets and also flooding the pool deck. Also, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, and smoking are prohibited at all City of Lakeway facilities. Finally, please ask parents to stay out of the ready bench areas and away from the start areas on deck on both sides of the pool.

We will use Meet Mobile and our website (http://results.teamunify.com/recahll/meetresults/) for meet results if our Internet connection cooperates. We will also post meet results during the meet on the tiled wall by the bathrooms.

We will provide your age group areas with trash bags, and our team will collect them after the meet ends. We will also have volunteers walking through the tents with water for volunteers, and to help in any way needed.

We will have a cooler on deck with water bottles for volunteers from both teams, and large orange coolers for refills. Please help yourself.

One last thing—about the weather. In the event of lightning or thunder within a 25-mile radius of the Swim Center, the City of Lakeway will close the pool for a minimum of 30 minutes until the weather clears the area. (I know this seems like a big area—but please understand that Lakeway had a child struck by lightning and very seriously injured last spring while playing soccer. All facilities in the Lake Travis area are being careful and cautious.) If storms are predicted or anticipated on Saturday morning, I will contact you on Friday evening or Saturday morning (by 6:00am) to make a determination about the meet. Due to other programming and staffing issues at the pool, our team is not able to reschedule meets that are canceled due to weather issues.
