Recap from Intrasquad
Thanks to all who made it a successful Intrasquad meet on Friday! Here's a couple quick takeaways from Friday:
- If you take your swimmer away from the Age Group Parent area, it is your responsibility to get them back to the Age Group Parent area and/or Ready Bench on time for their next swim. We had a number of exasperated Age Group Parents running around trying to find swimmers. If you have a 7-8 boy, this especially applies to you as we have so many of them this year.
- Please talk to your swimmers about being good listeners - especially if they're playing on an iPad or something similar between swims; our swimmers need to take more responsibility for getting ready. (Did you know that they don't even have Age Group Parents at most year-round swim meets - swimmers of all ages, even at a big place like UT's swim center, are expected to report to ready bench on their own at the appropriate time!)
- Please label your stuff and check the lost & found. :)

From the Coaches:
Hi everybody! Coach Peter here! I just wanted to say what a great job everybody did at the intrasquad meet this past Friday. From the swimmers, team parents, stroke judges, and timers, we are definitely off to a strong start this season! Obviously, there are some wrinkles to iron out, but I am confident we will be ready for our meet with BCCC this weekend. Since our first "real" meet is this weekend, our main goal for this week is teaching the swimmers the ways they could get disqualified during a race and how to avoid getting DQ'd. The goal for the first meet or two is having the swimmers walk away with times (and hopefully ribbons) and not DQ's. Any time is better than a DQ. We will have time to work on speed after teaching the correct technique, finishes, turns, etc.. As a side note, if you ever have any questions about which events your swimmer is prepared to swim, feel free to shoot Coach Rachel or me an email, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. I hope everybody had a restful weekend, and we'll see you at the pool! Thanks, Coach Peter
Photos: We will be doing the 8x10 memory mate photo again this year! Please stop by either one of the photo sessions wearing the team suit, even if you can’t be at practice this week. Date & Times listed on the schedule page. Please try to come by during one of the sessions either day, even if just for 5 minutes to take the photo and leave. With two available sessions, we aren't planning on any make-ups.
